Really Poor Service
AnsweredI purchased my Dewalt electric lawn mower in March of 2021. It has worked without issue until April of 2023. Let’s call that 2 years.
- Problem: When cutting the grass, I stopped the mower to blow off the driveway and sidewalk. When I went to start it again, nothing happened. It was dead as a door nail. I tried other batteries. Nothing. I contacted Dewalt support. They said to take it to the Factory Service location in Atlanta, an hour from my house.
When arriving at the Dewalt Service Center, I explained the situation to her. She tried some other batteries with the same result. She also made a comment that there was not even a light near the battery compartment.
She then informed me that I had to commit to paying approximately $335 to fix the problem. I paid about a hundred dollars more than that for the mower. I told her it would have been nice to know this before driving an hour each way to find this out. She asked if I dealt with that particular service center. I told her I did not. She stated that was the mistake I made. I did tell her that is not my mistake, but that is a Dewalt mistake by not coordinating properly.
If I had known that I had to commit to spending that amount of money without knowing what the problem is, I would not wasted 2 hours of my day during a work day since the hours of the service center are very limited. In any case, I will start moving all of my tools over to a different brand. I know this will cost me thousands of dollars in the end, but I refuse to have to deal with this sort of customer service.
