What's the difference between DCF850 modes?Answered
I recently purchased a DCF850 impact driver. The tool has a switch that the manual calls "mode selector", but doesn't describe what the different modes do or advise on when to use them.
I can tell by switching modes and pulling the trigger that the top speed changes, with Mode 1 being the slowest and Mode 3 being the fastest.
I also see that Mode 1 has a picture of a screw above it, whereas Mode 2 and Mode 3 do not. This suggests to me that Mode 1 is qualitatively different somehow.
- QUESTION 1: Can anyone elaborate on the differences between the three modes, including anything that might be special about Mode 1?
- QUESTION 2: If the only difference is the top speed, is there any reason not to just use Mode 3 (fastest) all the time?
I apologize if the answers are self-evident. As a new Dewalt user, however, they're not obvious to me and the manual, web site, and chat support are lacking in details. Thanks in advance for your help.
