DCD999 Trigger Clicking

I just purchased a DCD999 and I noticed the trigger “clicks” about half way through being pressed all the way in, almost like it’s going to a different speed when depressed going forward, even when there’s no battery in the tool. It doesn’t do that in reverse, only forward. I’m used to the trigger on my DCD791 being smooth as you pull it in forwards. Is this normal?
