If the bolt/nut comes loose or is improperly adjusted follow the below steps:

• Loosen the nut upwards so it spins freely.
• Set the dial on the side to a given setting, for example 1".
• Drop the cutter head down until it hits the stop then read the scale on the planer
• If the scale reads 1" tighten the nut and raise the head
• If the scale is higher than 1" turn the threaded bolt down, crank the head back down and check distance.
• If the scale is lower than 1" turn the threaded bolt up, crank the head back down and check distance.
• Once the proper distance is reached tighten the nut to lock the bolt in place.
