1 Add gateway to your Tool Connect account
To set up a Gateway you must be an account Owner, Administrator, or Site Admin.
Log in to the mobile app and tap the 'clipboard ' icon to open the Inventory page. To add a new device, tap the '+' icon.
From the "Add by asset type" option, tap the "Gateways" button.
Position your device camera over the QR code on the back of the Gateway..
In order for the Gateway to start auditing your Bluetooth assets you must assign the Gateway to an assignment. If you have not yet created an assignment refer to this article 6.2: Creating or Adding an Assignment (Tool Connect™ Site Manager)
Assignments will be the first option on the Gateway details screen, tap on the assignment field to open up the assignment list. Tap on the assignment you wish to use your Gateway at then tap select to confirm.
You will see the confirmed assignment and have the opportunity to enter any additional information you wish to add. When you are done tap ‘Save’.
You will now see the Gateway in your inventory list with its listed assignment.
2 Power on and charge your gateway
-
If the gateway is on, the power LED will blink one time.
-
If the gateway is off, the power LED will blink two times.
- The gateway will initiate a scan.
- The gateway will turn on / off.
You can now deploy your Gateway and start taking advantage of automatic audits.
3 Mount your gateway
Use the included double-sided Velcro strips or your own mounting solution to secure your gateway. If your gateway will be in the same place for a long period of time (for example a warehouse or tool crib) we recommend keeping it plugged in.
4 Gateway configuration
Gateways can be configured to report at 3 different intervals. Note that the battery life of the gateway can be quite different depending on reporting interval.
Every 15 minutes - We recommend keeping your gateway plugged in for this mode. When not plugged in, battery life will only be a few days.
Hourly (default) - expected battery life about a month
Twice daily - expected battery life 3-6 months.
In this mode, the exact times of day can be configured, for example 7am and 5pm.
